The new flexible AMOLED display was developed and submitted by Plastic Logic, known for its screens for electronic books.  Demonstrated sample capable of displaying 256 shades of gray and has a refresh rate of 30 times per second, so you can use it to watch videos. At the moment the device is at the prototype stage and the developers are trying to expand its color palette, but so far only managed to create red pixels. Nevertheless, the invention has great potential and could soon cause a new generation of electronic gadgets.

Also e-paper displays are used in a somewhat different sector of mobile devices, in smart-hours. That’s because E-Ink solutions offer very low power consumption, and it is very appropriate for compact devices. So, it was demonstrated prototype smart hours based on a flexible screen.
Unlike other devices in its class, this gadget offers a screen size of the entire body. No need in strap or bracelet. Display go around the perimeter of the wrist. This allows show on the flexible panel display much more information than can fit on the usual smart-hours. Display simultaneously accommodates information about the health of the owner, the weather forecast for the near future, e-mail notifications, social networking or calendar reminders.
